Morpheus on… The Beat Goes On

On the same day, two announcements…

Barack O’Bama – after the Gulf OIL “spill” – “Beyond the risks inherent in drilling four miles beneath the surface of our Earth, our dependence on oil means that we will continue to send billions of dollars of our hard-earned wealth to other countries every month – including many in dangerous and unstable regions. In other words, our continued dependence on fossil fuels will jeopardise our national security. It will smother our planet – and continue to put our economy and our environment at risk.” All of which is true – this reporter has been saying as much for years.

But at the same time, the B.B.C. went with “Afghans Say U.S. Teams Found Huge Potential Mineral Wealth. A joint team from the Pentagon, U.S. Geological Service and U.S.A.I.D. has calculated Afghanistan’s mineral deposits are worth at least $900bn… …valuable deposits of LITHIUM… …used in batteries… …key to the future of the electric car.”

Out of the frying pan, into the fire?

  1. It was the US Marxist labour unions that forced multi-national company BP away from shallow water and out to drill in deep water before the tech was ready. It was a Yank rig, with a Yank contractor, that messed up and caused the rig to explode. It was US Marxist labour unions than forced Obama to refuse Dutch and other international oil-clean-up companies help right at the start in April. So sad to watch Obama falter as he sucks up to his Marxist labour union financiers.

Oil, papaver somniferum, lithium, frying pan, fire, the internet, whatever, the enemies of (amongst other modernisations) education and employment rights for females will use whatever is to hand in their ancient war against mindkind. And with friends like criminal companies of the Union Carbide and Enron type, we might think some of our enemies even honourable. Go forth, star arks! Carry the cream, and leave the rack and ruin behind! Let the Earth experiment fry and burn.

I LOVED the comment made by (I think) Jeremy Hardy on Sandi Toksvig’s “The News Quiz” on BBC Radio 4 last Sunday.

    Something along the lines of:

“It used to be that the USA had to invade countries to obtain oil. Now BP delivers it right to their doorstep and all they do is COMPLAIN!”

Oh, and I’m sure that there will be a moronic sector of US society that confuses “Lithium” with “di-lithium crystals” and will be expecting the development of the Matter/Anti-matter Warp drive to be just around the corner!

Sunpnado – I hear the contractor was HALLIBURTON – which would explain a lot…

Alfie – It certainly SOUNDS like a Jeremy Hardy line (I still receive The News Quiz, courtesy of m’boy).
